Please help me understand. The State of Illinois provides massive funding to UI Urbana. UI Urbana's endowment has over $1 billion. The Dept of Agriculture has huge programs in this area. The soybean industry generates $100s of billions of $ in revenue. And this whole supposedly vital program gets shut down within a week because the agency for international development won't fund it? Why won't the University, donors host countries and the soybean industry provide some bridge funding dollars and then ongoing funding? Feels like there's more to this story.
