About 23% of unicorn founders have a doctoral degree, or PhD. The percentage of PhD founders varies by industry, with healthcare having the highest percentage at 44.1%, and business products and services having the second-highest percentage at 20.0%. Information technology has the largest number of unicorns, but a lower-than-average percentage of PhD founders at 16.5%.
