以前 S 沒有那麽難進。
1978年我的 ABC cousin (姑媽的兒子) 選 大伯 over S。 念 Mechanical Engineering and Material Science。
畢業後一直在 Defense Industry （Hughes Aerospace, Northrop Grumman)。
1980年另一位 cousin （姨媽的女兒） 則選 S over 大伯 ； 念哲學， 畢業後去 UCLA 念法。
我孩子這一代， 我家族有二十多人在加州， 進大伯, USC, 和 UCLA 的不少， 但是沒有一個進 S。
結論:
(1) 以前進 S 比現在容易多;
(2) 我家的孩子不夠優秀。
