再補充一下我在其他壇友的帖子上的回帖:
藤校喜歡有熱情的、在某方麵取得了突出成績(spike)、有主動性的孩子。光看成績本身沒用。GPA可能很高,但是能不能拿到老師很好的推薦信很關鍵;有沒有強烈的運用所學服務社會的意識;有沒有為了自己喜歡幹的事情大量投入時間、就算是可能影響GPA的勇氣;有沒有“我就是我”,不用迎合你的錄取標準去做一個虛榮的“我”的傲氣。
另外就是,孩子的成長有很大的隨機性。如果沒有父母的幹預,孩子們有各種各樣的天份,適合幹各種各樣的工作。有些因為某些隨機因素會越不斷的累積自己的優勢在某方麵越來越強,有些也可能就真的是平常人。我們很多華人的做法就是人雲亦雲的把孩子打造成一個模子刻出來的產品,GPA一定要怎麽樣,AP要越多越好,樂器、體育都要標配,這樣做的結果是抹去了孩子的棱角,花了大量時間做不是自己優勢的事情,卷來卷去都成了一樣的孩子。
藤校不是跑道的終點,能夠站在這條起跑線上的都是幸運的孩子,在對的時間做了對的事情,贏得了招生官的青睞。人生很長,希望大家都好運。
