Emphasize to be a good person,

 

not just a good student.

There're children's versions of the Bible, some of them can be quite dense, where there's "The Ten Commandments." One of them is "Honor your father and mother..." So, not talking to them is not what a good person would do.

He has the intelligence, but lacks wisdom. 

His attitude stems from the fact that, by being a good student, he knows he has a lock on you.
