National Merit Finalist --- 對college application 有幫助嗎？

兒子進了 National Merit Finalist。我建議他update his college applications. 但是他不同意，說這沒有那麽重要， 沒什麽幫助。是這樣嗎？這是我家老大， 沒有經驗。提前謝謝大家！
