Even the card is not lost or stolen, but sitting at home inside the drawer while you were out of home travelling.
This happened to a friend 2 years ago. His Ink card left at home had several thousands fraudulent charges when they were traveling in Europe. Because he had not set alerts he had NO IDEA the card had fraudulent charges. It took 2 billing cycles before Chase finally satisfied those charges were fraudulent...
The friend said the last transactions using that card were to pay IRS on those 3rd party websites that take credit card payments... IIRC it was 1040.com. He felt the card info was leaked from that site.
