We are going there during X-mas too. From NYC to LV filght cost is aobut $350. Car rental for 8 days is $204, pick up in LV. If pick up at the airport, cheaper. We will drive to Death Valley, Joshua Tree National Park, San Diago and back to LV. Since you only have 4 days, can spend 2 days visiting Hovor Dam, Red Rock National Park and Death Valley. They are all around LV except Death Vally (140 miles away). Then spend 2 days in LV. We did this several times. We love Death Valley.

Search "cheaptickets.com" or "Obitz.com" or "Priceline.com" I booked everything from Obitz.com.
