國旅行社要求我們購買我們整個行程的保險，從我們離開家到回到家，不能隻是南極行程那部分. They are right. If you don't do so, insurer can reject your claim. In 2010, I booked an Antartica cruise with PolarStar 6 months in advance, while I was still shopping for my air ticket, PolarStart went into bankrupt. I thought I had insurance, no big deal. But my claim was rejected on the basis that I have no to/return ticket. Alltravel insurance requires coverage for whole trip, not partial trip.

Another thing l learnt about travel insurance is that in case of several illness of family member, you can get refund for cancellation, only the family member has to be resident of the country where you bought the travel insurance.

If you have a gold credit card, you dont need extra travel insurance.

If you live inCanada, check TIC, it cost about $300.
