if you only have 1 day to see sedona, don't even bother to go to the state parks.  Drive straight to the vistor center, which is located in the download of sedona, get a map of city and go from there.  if you are going to sedona from GC, take 89a if it is possible, the route is much harder to drive compare to the interstate, but the scenes are just simply gorgeous.
