Chinese con-artists were known to use ancient paper to fake famous artists' works long time ago (before Ming dynasty for sure...)
To make claim about the authenticity of a document based on the age of paper just showed the ignorance of this "professor" who does not know the basics.
Looks like this piece was made in the late Ming period or early Ching period, from information collected from missionaries who had travelled in the East. Even though Tasman arrived in New Zealand only in 1642, the rough existence of Australia and New Zealand was well known by then and Hudson Bay was not discovered much earlier.
