I don't know which state you are in but in California, you can have your passport done in designated post offices. It takes about 3 weeks or less to get it. Kids or adults, you just need to have your photos, fill out your forms, pay your fee and have a little interview with the agent. The only hard part I can see is the waiting in line. But, what doesn't.
