Mostly true.. People living the countryside have to obtain permission to visit the capital.. Waitress and truck drivers are hot jobs... But they have free housing, education and medicare.. 大同江羊角島飯店 (with a revolving restaurant on top) has more than 1 TV channels, including even CNN and some chinese stations, at least when I was there.
