one country (China) and two systems (i.e. socialism in the Mainland, capitalism in Taiwan). Thus, there is no reason to oppose the policy - One country, two systems - proposed by the Mainland side. However, it is very odd that Taiwanese do not like this idea, including the KMT and DPP and their respective supporters.
Why? What do these Taiwanese want, really? The KMT and its supporters want to remain the present status, which is actually consistent with the idea - One country, two systems.
The DPP and its supporters currently want to unchange the current state cross the Taiwan strait, too. In other words, this does not violate 'One country, two system', either.
So, what is the problem facing the Mainland and Taiwan?
Peaceful unification of the Mainland and Taiwan under one China is the best solution. Ugently needed is to start a talk cross the Taiwan strait, indeed. Everything can be discussed, such as the name of nation, national flag, icon, etc.
Why is so hard? Cannot understand it at all.
