The Taiwanese goverment knew it from day one. China claimed not to produce any biochem weapons way before the international treaty was proposed. What do you think the KMT has been doing? Actually, when I visited Taiwan in september 2014, many Taiwanese from the mainland, who are way younger than this old soldier, believed that they would win if they are able to turn the mainland into a bad mess. Their hope has been always answered by the history, -when there is mess, the mess may last for one to two hundred years and a military warlord usually takes control, In that situation, Taiwan can be the first target for military taking over. Nobody knows how many years China will be set back by. How can the obsolete KMT win? They can only provoke a war if they always want to test the nerves of the main stream Chinese. This party is obsolete and never knows what the people want!
