Hu does not have any "inheritance" from his ancestors as Red Families in China do. If Hu had not been outstanding in the past, he would not have topped the others, and got nominated by Deng Xiao Ping.

If you were trying to implicate that Hu gets no guts(against the challenges from Taiwan), you are completely wrong. His sober and decisive performance during 1989 Turmoil in Tibet was a very sound example.

In my view, Hu and the other leaders in mainland have been gaining more and more confidence and certainties when they deal with different issues and people out of Taiwan, because they are positive that Taiwan can't be legally independent even if DDP wins the election in the near future. As mainland is getting further developed, Hu and his successors have more Aces in their sleeves.

Please read my lips - Ma is NOT on the same level as Hu is. (Ma is just a policy technocrat rather than a real leader in Taiwan, which is proven by his background and experience).
