《多維新聞》薄瑞光向馬英九強調，《台灣關係法》依然是台美關係的核心文件，奧巴馬訪華期間，不論公私都強調美國的對台政策及對台承諾沒有改變。

據台灣中廣新聞11月24日報道，總統馬英九24日上午在總統府內接見美國在台協會AIT理事主席薄瑞光，薄瑞光對馬英九表示，在總統奧巴馬結束中國大陸和其它亞洲國家之行後，他就來台灣向馬英九進行簡報，並且和其它人士會麵。

薄瑞光強調，奧巴馬在北京的時候，不論是公開還是私下的談話，都強調美國長期的對台政策，包括符合台灣自我防衛需求的承諾都沒有

薄瑞光重申“（英語）奧巴馬總統在北京所發表的公開聲明中，有關《台灣關係法》的保證：《台灣關係法》仍然是台美關係的核心文件！”

薄瑞光也表示，美國一貫敦促海峽兩岸應該透過和平方式解決所有問題，也要符合兩岸人民意願。馬英九對薄瑞光的說明表示感謝，也認為這和台灣方麵的預期是一致的。
