碰到這種情況，你會如何回應？

相信我們都碰到過這樣的情形，有時遇見一個亞裔，尤其是很像同胞時，可能會問一下，“are you a Chinese?"

十幾年前剛來美國，在舊金山開會時，在等去會議中心的大巴時，見到一個“同胞”，問後，得到的答複是“No, I am a Taiwanese". 當時也不知如何回答。就冷了場。

今天在我任教學校GYm 的桑拿室內，又碰到一個看似同胞的人，此君中年，已經泄頂。當時就我們兩，有一搭無一搭的用英文聊了一兩句。我又問了相同的問題。他回答“No, I am NOT a Chinese, I am a Taiwanese".

I immediately responded " Really, I never heard of it"

他看起來很窩火，但又不知怎樣還擊，就都不說話。一會兒，他就離開了。
