When I read James Patterson's book for the first time, I didn't like that much either. When I read a few more, I started to feel that his book was not so bad after all.
I understand what you said about 不到一半就猜到結果. That is usually the problem for books with third-person narrative.
Have you read Patricia Cornwell's books of Kay Scarpetta seriesI. I like the earlier books better which was written from the first-person narrative.
