with a 30 dollar hourly rate, her gross annual income would be around 60K. She probably takes home 43K a year or 3,500 a month after tax and various didactions. It is tough if she is the only bread winner in her household and she lives in one of the high cost jurisdictions such as Toronto, especially if she has to pay rent. However, if she lives in a small to medium city in Ontario, and her husband/partner makes a salary similar to hers, I don't see she has any issue making ends meet. After all, health care is free in Canada, and she would be getting all kinds of child support money from the liberal goverment.
