雙語隨筆：秋色與帥氣

說我是紐約人也好，紐約客也好。人在紐約，客在天涯，時在秋末，帶著一身秋色，步入十二月，幸好眼看不到冬貌，心感不到冬意。同時，也不回首春夏。畢竟，人早已經不再是二十來歲的小夥子了。韓潮不再弄，歐浪不再濺。帥不帥，管它的！吸引的異性當然依舊吸引，然而吸住我的，舍秋色其誰？

舍秋色其帥？

 

Believe me, there's no standard fare in New York City. Wait. I am not talking about my cab fare. I am just saying that New Yorkers, for better or worse, are the most fashion-sensitive human beings on the planet. I have seen a lady cop with a crimson maple leaf as her lapel pin. Awesome. Let me wear autumn upon my sleeve. Autumn is my heart. *

* Here I referred to this quote from Shakespeare's Othello, a tragedy: "I will wear my heart upon my sleeve for daws [small crows] to peck at." Unlike poor Othello, upon my sleeve I wear Autumn as my heart, cool and golden.
