I would guess both are professionals. If they don't even maintain at least a professional apparence at work how can they advance to a management role? The way you dress yourself kind of telling people where you belong. Not saying anything excessive, but at least maintain a clean, professional apparence. That $500/yr is a joke.
Have you seen anyone at work who is wearing same clothes over and over? It's annoying to say the least. For a woman that's unacceptable, especially when she actually can afford something better.
