Where to shop in New York City? Need advice, please

I need some advice in shopping sites in New York. My brother will come here and wants to shop in this weekend. He will be in New York. His original schedule is going to Woodburry outlet with his group from China. However I thought woodburry is not cheap and good at all, I would rather bring him to SOHO or other better places. Does this sound right?

I appreciate any input! :-)
