《詩·大雅·下武》朱熹集傳：“繩，繼；武，跡。言武王之道，昭明如此，來世能繼其跡。”後因稱繼承祖先業跡為“繩武”。






繩武樓於清嘉慶年間由蘆溪十八世太學生葉處候始建，從奠基到完工，曆經嘉慶、道光、鹹豐、同治、光緒五朝，前後長達一百多年。
