Good night my little darling
I may not have asked you what you learn at school
I may not have told you those bed time stories
But I am watching you sleep like an angel
I am always around when you need a company

I didn’t kiss you to dream
I didn’t say I love you repeatedly
I only secretly brush you hair when you are asleep
Not to wake you up to see my embarrassed face

You remember all those heroic stories
You understand what I told you a man should be
I reminisce how you stood up against a big fat kid
To defend your mother when you were only three

Good night my little darling
I would not blame you stealing your mother’s heart from me
And one day she will lose hers to another lady
Do not turn your face when she attempts a kiss on your cheek
Which will become a privilege of that lucky lady

I confess I had pictured a path of your life
Rise as a man, fight the evil, and change the world
Now just dream of your favorite things
Seeing your smile in the morning fills my every single day
