I agree without mutual love, she would not be that brave to express. Two people know without using language if they know they belong to each other. They might just be lack of something to tie them together.  Mutual goal to raise his kids? Or he felt he was too old to handle a young wife? Who knows why? But it’s good for them not being together in my eyes.
