When I first came to the states, there was no PC available.

In the labs, we used Digital Equipment Corporation PDP11-23, and we used FORTRAN. There was a space invader installed on the machine. It had an 8 inch floppy, removable hard disks which I thought was 5 mb. Very large. In a dorm, a student had his own PDP, in a rack which was as tall as an adult.

Later on, PC was available, there was only one with WordStar with green monocolor screen and everyone (mostly the graduate students) in the whole department used it.  My thesis was written with that PC.
