When my child was in elementary school, every Summer

our state would issue the Summer Reading List for grade students.  That's the list of recommended books posted at the local public library for the convenience of parents.  Appreciating the great public services, I tried to borrow these books for a few Summer breaks consecutively, and I was shocked.  There were at least two books, out of the five recommended, in which the key figure(s) or main stories are of AA.  Having read myself a number of books with similar focus, but I don't think the  AA percentage should be that high for a 5th grader's summer reading.  I've never paid attention to that reading list later.
