我在這裏起草了一份給你所在選區的國會議員的信, 請上網查一下你議員的網站, 然後給他寫信:
Subject: restrict guest worker visas amid coronavirus pandemic
Dear Senator/Congressman/Congresswoman,
Since the outbreak of COVID-19, about a fifth of the country’s total workforce – or 33 million Americans - have filed for unemployment benefits in the last seven weeks as the pandemic cripples the American economy. While thousands of Americans are struggling to get a job to feed their families, the United States admits more than one million nonimmigrant guest workers every year, and there is no reason to admit most such workers when our unemployment is so high.
On May 7 2020, Senator Tom Cotton (R-Arkansas) along with Senators Ted Cruz (R-Texas), Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa), and Josh Hawley (R-Missouri) sent a letter (see https://www.cotton.senate.gov/?p=press_release&id=1358) to President Donald Trump urging him to extend and expand his April 22, 2020 Proclamation on immigration. They ask the President to suspend all new guest worker visas for sixty days, and to suspend certain categories of new guest worker visas for at least the next year, or until unemployment has returned to normal levels.
I urge you to support Senators Cotton, Cruz, Grassley and Hawley for their effort to protect American workers.
