In the desert

沙漠裏，

I saw a creature, naked, bestial,

我看見過一個人，赤裸裸，如野獸

Who, squatting upon the ground,

蹲在地上，

Held his heart in his hands,

And ate of it.

I said, “Is it good, friend?”

“it is bitter—bitter,” he answered;"

“But I like it

“Because it is bitter,
