昔年欲語還休，          yesterday words were shy and reticent
今朝笑顏依舊。          today smiles prevail their innocent
 
欲問花枝堪折，          had all those flowers ever being taken?
誰知落花已瘦。          Behold, they became frail and forsaken
 
知否，知否。          Hear ye, hear ye, you ought to know
流年花期已舊。          Where beauty perished in aging throe
