【Garden Meditators】

I walked to the garden
to smell roses
saw a praying mantis 
on a floribunda rose 
called  “love songs"

Arms across his chest
he was praying, I wondered 
if he prayed to the same God
and if he found any truth in life
by smelling roses, as I did

Quietly I left the garden 
let him enjoy moments of 
wisdom and peace
maybe a few soprano love songs
from the purple rose
