The heart asks pleasure first

And then, excuse from pain

And then, those little anodynes

That deaden suffering;

And then,to go sleep;

And then, if it should be

The will of its inquisitor,

The liberty to die

（我的）心（總是）

問候歡樂在先

然後，向痛苦致歉

（因為）那些小小的藥片

讓它處在半夢半醒之間

然後（我沉沉地）睡眠

如果這是檢察官的意願

（那就是）自由死亡（的宣判）
