The World Health Organization released findings from a study that found that the citizens of the richest nations, such as the US and France, were at more risk for at least one depressive episode in their lives. And that the incidence of depression is rising to epidemic proportions, projecting it would be the second highest reason for disability in the world.
It’s not a big surprise that the study showed what most people have thought all along. The problem is not being the richest nation, it’s the income disparity that is the problem. In countries like the US, people are often working as hard, but just not making it, while they watch the rich throwing money around like its confetti and this has to have an effect on the national psyche.
