長頸鹿脖子長，達爾文認為是自然選擇。能吃到高處葉子的長頸鹿更有競爭力，於是留下了更多的基因。

拉馬克認為是用進廢退。為了吃到高處的葉子，長頸鹿的脖子越來越長越來越長。
