Sorry for being so chatty today (yesterday). My father died 36 years ago of a heart attack induced by the ups and downs from a bird strike on the plane during a flight. The flight attendant announced to the passengers to write down their last words but they were able to land safely in Xi'an, after all. He took a really hot shower in the hotel (to calm the nerves?), and collapsed.
Doctors at the hospital were able to bring him back, but a second episode took away his life, at the age of 49. I only managed to return for the funeral.
Last night during our return to the airport after the seagulls hit our plane, on the nosecone and the landing gear, the captain announced that he expected a "heavy landing" with the fuel load. He made several circles around Orlando to go through his checklist and burn as much fuel as possible (could not dump over the city). The engines were very loud during the fuel burn.
For a very brief moment, I didn't think we were going to make it.
Now, I become chatty. Just talked to the flight attendants and probably bored them. They give me an ice cream.
I am tasting life.
