This was posted before, but here reposts it to express my prior concerning on hygiene conditions of people in the countryside and some urban areas in China.

實現現代化僅半步之遙! 然而，必須看到某些方麵還沒有達到發達國家的水平，需
要一定時間趕上來。最需要的是，徹底全麵改造、升級公共廁所，廣大農村家庭廁
所、衛生間。一旦這一目標實現，中國就全麵現代化了!
If every home and each public wash room are equipped with flash toilet and tap water (both cold and hot), and provide toilet paper, then China has completely been modernized. This may take time. But, I think 5 to 10 years are enough!
Fair systems for education, medicare, and secuirity are also needed to set up. In order to this, Hukou system should first be eliminated.
