Chinese people have their social cliques.

China has 1.3 billion people. Chinese are divided based on region, whether you are from the farm, from the city, from the south, from the north, from hong kong, from taiwan, born in the west, these are all cliques. It makes sense, since china has too many people to take care of resource wise, and we view newcomers as threat. So we don't welcome them. China is big, we are not united, we are divided based on all these cliques and you can see how divided up china is. Shanghai is successful, and a lot of people don't like shanghai because of jealousy, resentment, and need to feel better by looking down at others.
