(1): I wonder why some 620,000 men lost their lives in the civil war of United States, one of the most democratic countries in the world.
(2): A simple majority makes the decision? That's your perspective. If a simple majority decided to maintain status quo, should you respect their wish too? If so -- that has been Taiwan's stance for more than 20 years. Please respect that.
(3): There is nothing wrong with a requirement that more than 1/2 of eligible voters vote. Else, the vote of less than 50% of the people can decide the future of a country? How absurd is that?
(4): There were plenty of threats from England to Scotland alright. Mr. Cao had apparently neglected to see them. Not as threatening as PRC to ROC, I will agree.
(5): Mr. Cao's interpretation of international law is hilarious. The ROC lawfully regained Taiwan, without the dispute of Japan. That, sir, is the best evidence that Japan agreed to relinquish its control of Taiwan over to ROC. The selective interpretation of questionable application of international law only suggests that Mr. Cao's vision is quite limited, if not wholly biased.
