Wait and see. To crack down corruption is a good thing regardless, especially at local government level which directly impacts people's daily life. If Xi gets all power he needs and just repeats what has been repeated for thousands years in Chinese history, then that is too bad to Chinese people and China as Country.
Any political party is always trying everything possible for its own party’s interest to gain power and maintain power, and the interests of ordinary people are not on their priority list. This applies to every country in this planet.
The key is the governing power generating process. In some countries, the governing power is given by ordinary people thru election, and this is the core value of democracy and this generates competition. The governing party then manages country “on behalf of” people, and they have to say or do something that people is hopping/wishing them to do, so they can continue their power, regardless if they are willing or unwilling to do so. If they can keep one promises out of 10 they promised during election, the society will improve, the ordinary people’s wishes will be fulfilled over the time. Such as today’s welfare/health care system in West European and Canada.
In other countries, the governing power is snatched thru revolution or inherited. There is no position for ordinary people about who should have the governing power. China is one of these countries. Ironically, China’s government calls China is “socialism” country, while people have to pay for everything and live on their own.
Only one person I respect the most is George Washington, who is willing to give power back to people. He said people should not have another King to manage them, they should manage themselves. Even Mr. Jiang Jing Guo was willing to open political arena when towards to the end of his life. The one solution to China is democracy, if China really wants to stand up in the world. People’s faith should rely on the system they have the say, not one person or one party which has nothing to do with ordinary people. China needs “George Washington”!! So, wait and see.
