"For forms of government let fools contest, what's best administered is best," or some such line is from the poet, Pope. Query: why is China in many ways better run than USA? Democracy can at best give the people an unwieldy negative on the regime in power. But Power is always finding ways to make itself irresponsible; Power in the USA had centuries to perfect its wiles, so that today the USA's people are utterly baffled by the regime. Also, the age of our system, 224 years, gives it a legitimacy which the clown pols who exploit it certainly never earned. In China, where Power is based frankly on Leninist centralism, the Party can't plausibly shift blame for corruption & failure onto other parties. So, it disciplines itself more than American pols do, to preserve its legitimacy. Also, in China the regime is only 56 years old, & so lacks the deep reserve unearned legitimacy the USA regime exploits. .
