Well, not completely agreeing with you. I have being living in USA for 20 years and am SO used to seller-buyer relationship here that I do not think that would be a meditated selling scheme at all. Remember that here nobody will urge you to sign a purchase!
I have to say that I did not try to outsmart him. I did not intend to buy anything.
Just feel that such selling scheme will be harming people for years to come, and I feel obligated to tell this to others (there are several other victims too. Google to see)
