   What would Mao think, if he awoke today?
   
   He'd discover a country where a long-held tradition of bribery is now artlessly pursued at every level of public office. He'd see a place where certain people never tell the truth. He'd also see how public officials can poison uncooperative partners in their nefarious pursuit of Renmenbi. And he'd see public officials disappear into thin air!
   
   A drowsy Mao would only despair the high price of rice before falling back into quiet slumber.
