Competition is good as long as it is (relatively) fair. Of course that US wants to be No.1. Don't you want to be No.1 too? Who doesn't?
If you spend 100 million dollars to create an invention, for example, microsoft windows, do you think that it is fine for other countries to use it for free? To be honest, some of those American stuff are not that difficult to invent independently. However, many Chinese choose to copy illegally.
If you told your people "death to the American" and try to produce nuclear weapons, do you think that US should still try to be your friend? If you claim that another country should not live on earth, should US still treat you well?
Do you know why some American do not like Chinese government? If a government refuses to allow its citizens to see the truth, choose their way of living, select their own officials, or express their true thoughts, do you expect American to like such a government?
There are bad Americans. However, in a country where the access to information is free and unrestricted, most people are able to make a fair judgement. On the other hand, in a country where people can only see and hear what their government allows them to see and hear, most people are easily manipulated.
Do NOT think that most people from other countries try to destroy China. They do not. If children are told that people are born equal and all should have a happy life if they work hard, most of them will not try to destroy other countries when they grow up.
