You mean Hu?  Right now Hu is in control.  Timing is everything.  :)

If Xi is in power, Canada may get nothing and Lai will rot in Canada.  But when it is still under Hu, Lai can be valuable ... if Hu wants him to be valuable.  But most likely Hu wants some concession from Xi in leadership negotiation and Lai will rot in China.  The tragic end of an expendable pawn, in China or in Canada.
