Nothing happened. So nothing will be done.

It is like dogs peeing on a tree to mark their presence, both China and US made "political peeing" on the tree to demonstrate:

1) It is Chinese internal matters.  US buzz off.

2) It is US rights to meet anyone it pleases.  China buzz off.

So the peeing ritual occurred. Nothing consequential happened.  And off they went back to their packs to show that they peeed bravedly.
