Worst of all, Google has devised a face-saving strategy for the withdrawal which is certainly very humiliating for the once invincible IT company. Unfortunately, this strategy deliberately causes bilateral tension between USA and China and has put Google itself into the role of a political pawn. From a business point of view, Google has made an irreversible mistake by mixing politics with commerce. It is very hard for Google to paint itself as a human rights promoter in China simply because of its failure in China's search market under the competition of indigenous IT companies. By playing politics because of business failure, Google risks losing China's market once for all and its demise. For sure, retreat from China is the Waterloo for Google.
