LubaKLittThe new Chinese prosperity is a double edged sword for the CCP. Rising standards of living also cause rising future expectations. If the Chinese think the govt. is causing a loss to their individual economic situation - it will get blamed, i.e. "what have you done for me lately". Since the dramatic rise of China, the Chinese economy has never suffered a severe recession and (like all advanced economies) one is inevitable at some stage. Remember there are millions of Chinese alive today that have never experienced bad times.ReplyShare1 Like

Bobs OpinionLeaderEditedPeople in China are now able to travel, buy homes and generally live a better life than their parents did. They have a middle class where none existed a few years ago. Why would you think they are not happy with their government policies? How we doin over here? (and please don't blame them for our problems)

Tommy TwotoneLeaderI would hope that anyone would be skeptical of any info that uses as a source any US/American social media. I would certainly hope that they apply that same skepticism for Chinese social media.ReplyShare2 Likes

John KeyLeaderOf course the Chinese people like their government. 40 years ago, they were all in labor camps, nobody got educated, everyone was sent to be reeducated on farms. Today, the government is stealing the West blind, expanding its influence around the world with development deals, and thumbing its nose at Washington. It's all making China increasingly wealthy (though much of that is a mirage). People used to misery will always trade some repression for increased wealth, that's an easy bargain to make.ReplyShare2 Likes

axel mc intoshLeaderEditedJohn KeyWho do you wanna convince? You don't even got 5G, quantum communication or the quantum radar etc The truth is that with 10 million Chinese university graduates each year, they are getting better to do their own stuff. Almost every time I read about an american science news story, there is an asian name behind it. All nations has stolen knowhow at one point in their history inclusive the USA

Andres LeonJohn Key"Though much of that is a mirage" he says arbitrarily. Go to China and see for yourself their rate of growth and development. By comparison, the US is sedentary and indolent. It is true that their government has brought them prosperity. And sure, statesmen are not chosen by laymen. But if you think average Chinese are cowering, living in fear of their government all the time, yearning for Westernization and "freedom" you are a fool. The Chinese are not so infatuated by the word "freedom" as Americans.ReplyShare30 Likes

kay hongInfluencerAndres LeonAmerica and its minions use "freedom, human rights and democracy" to clobber and demonize its rivals but what exactly are they? Nobody ever offered specifics about them and do Americans actually practice such values? One thing is for sure, Americans are brainwashed into believing Plutocracy is Democracy. China's Meritocracy is far superior to America's Plutocracy and it shows in the results of the past 20 years!ReplyShare24 Likes

Steve ChaoLeaderAmerican foreign policy has always been based on domestic issues, various forces dominating Washington and fantasy and hoaxes. Nothing to do with reality.ReplyShare18 Likes

Hang LaiLeaderIf China communist is doing so well, but look at Taiwan and HongKong, they are doing 4 times better. With China vast resources, human and natural resource, it only come close to 1/4 times, how good is the system? You make the judgement.ReplyShare4 Likes

Steve ChaoLeaderHang LaiThey spent the first 40 years destroying the country. The second 40 years? You have to give the current batch of leaders some credit. Anyone can tell you Hong Kong is not doing well. Look at the disparity between rich and poor. Average income is meaningless there. Taiwan peaked in 1990 coinciding with Kuomintang losing out to what is essentially mob rule. Its trekking mud last 30 years.ReplyShare25 Likes

kay hongInfluencerHang LaiTaiwan doing 4 times better than China, what a boatload of BS! Please offer examples of what it did better than China. There is a long list of China's accomplishments that Taiwan can only dream about!ReplyShare19 Likes

Hang LaiLeaderkay hongTaiwan has no resources, in 1969, it only export banana to Japan for $320M a year for export revenue. US was giving them aid for $120M/year aid ( military and others). Now Taiwan makes /designs all PC for the world, it has 4 times the capita as in China, control most high tech China uses. Taiwan actually is subsidizing US now, buying all the weapons from US.ReplyShare1 Like

Temp MyHang LaiTaiwan has the starting money (the whole China's savings by 1949) brought over by GMD when they retreated to Taiwan. Taiwan had US's support as a base against China. Taiwan has China the huge market to sell lots of its products to.ReplyShare5 Likes

Steve ChaoLeaderEditedTemp MyThat is BS communist propaganda. CCP had plenty opportunities. US was ruled by Democrat Truman , a labor union leader. Truman did everything to help CCP defeat Chiang. Who he see as arch enemy of workers along with Spain's Franco. Mao and party's bizarre policies took her down to unprecedented poverty. 5 million dead in purges and cultural revolution. 30 million starved. China had never experienced mass starvation except in times of war and natural disasters famine. Mao and CCP did it all, in peace time.ReplyShare

China just found it out in the last 30 years, it did make quite a bit progress, but a semi-free country, its power is limited; with 1.4B people, the country is hardly able to feed its own people, any disaster or mismanagement, it is going to be a big problem. The current policy is to steal the IP and technology from others to make progress, it is not sustainable. Something needs to change to sustain this progress.ReplyShareSteve ChaoLeaderEditedHang LaiChina today is about as free as during the Chiang days. Free except politically free. IMHO the best environment for economic development. I respect what Xi is doing. IMHO he is the true successor of the two Chiangs. Stealing IPs is a lot of BS. Taiwanese stole other's IP used in their product produced in China. Much of the IP patents in the West are fraudulent, like patenting wheels are round.ReplyShare2 Likes

Steve ChaoLeaderkay hongYou look at per capita income. Taiwan is 4 times China. After CCP destroyed China's economy, education system, ruined a whole generation. It was 1 million KMT Taiwan educated professionals who filled the void. Who rebuilt China's industry. Taught a new generation of managers, technocrats ,engineers. Taiwanese companies invested heavily in China, bringing new technology and management skills. Even today, as China tries to develop semi foundries. They rely on Taiwan professionals . All previous attempt on their own failed. Including some led by well known priviliged children of party bosses. They lied and cheated the country out of tens of billions dollars with fake equipement and product.ReplyShare
-
Steve ChaoLeaderkay hongKMT has always stressed education. All her cabinet ministers are phds educated in top western universities. When CCP took China they had whole slew of KMT educated scientist and engineers who led projects from atomic bomb to rockets. Later in the 90s a whole new generation of KMT educated technocrats, engineers, managers, entrepreneurs helped rebuilt China from what was a hell hole of poverty. Poorer than Mozambique, Tanzania.ReplyShare

Ardak KumerianLeaderOne-party rule does have its benefits, as long as it makes the right economic decisions. Here, in California, we also have one-party rule (deep blue), but the politicians make the worst decisions imaginable. And the state is quickly becoming a Third World shantytown, with a few wealthy gated communities in the middle of the chaos.ReplyShare7 Likes

Temp MyDong Hua@Dong Hua That's exactly typical of western media/governments's attitude. They don't care the well being of the majority, they care the minority as long as these are against the Chinese government.ReplyShare6 Likes

Flambert TreadwellLeaderTemp MyI disagree with you on that.. Do you care about the well being of the majority?? Are you happy with the Communist party running China? Two questions that deserve an honest answer...ReplyShareNo DoubtLeaderBased on the above assessment, everyday American life has been affected inversely proportional.ReplyShare1 Like

kay hongInfluencerEditedFrank NomaThe good old times in America could have continued if it refused to spend over 700 billion dollars yearly on the military, not wasted trillions in foreign wars and regime changes and foreign aids (actually influence buying). Can you imagine the results of those wasted trillions spent on infrastructure, science and research, education, clean energy, 5G, AI, robotics, advanced manufacturing, environmental protection and so much more.ReplyShare5 Likes
