I'm not Russian and am still liking this. Even after listening to this many times, its never enough. However, just something I noticed...out of the many cinema personalities shown in this video, one was completely missing...Sergei Eisenstein...the pioneer of montage. How could u miss him out! Also you missed out Gary Kasparov, the greatest chess champion!

@ Aleksandrovich1989,

Okay, I have changed "occupied" to "captured" and put "Nazi" in square brackets. Are you happy now?

I enjoy when someone provided with Culture is able to correct historical events, particularly in face of such a beautiful Anthem with so many moving images. Thank you for your considerations.

I'm from South Korea, and as a hobby I've been listening to many different countries' anthem, but by far I have to say, the Russian Anthem is the best. Sadly I heard Russia has big problem with racism. Looks like a beautiful country with proud people, but not sure if I want to risk visiting. Hope it gets resolved soon. Would like to tour the country =)

The actual broadcast was "ВОЙСКА ПЕРВОГО БЕЛОРУССКОГО ФРОНТА ПОЛНОСТЬЮ ОВЛАДЕЛИ СТОЛИЦЕЙ ГЕРМАНИИ, БЕРЛИНОМ!"

Can you provide us with the actual broadcast in Cyrillic, please? I'm learning Russian and Russian history so this would help me with my vocab and grammar a lot!

As the matter is "the troops have took a city" so the word "occupied" is pretty better to decribe the situation, although the words "captured" and "seized' are the synonyms. The word "occupy" is used without any negative connotation in this case.

Allright, there is no the word "Nazi" in the announcement, but I use this word in the translation to specify the Third Reich Germany, taking care of the feelings of present citizens of Germany.
