在上世紀五、六十年代開始，他是美國流行音樂史上與貓王齊 名的偉大黑人歌手，是真正的黑人民族音樂發揚者，他以摻雜西印度群島加利帕騷（galypso）風格的演唱特色而傾倒眾生。與貓王的英年早逝相對 比，BELAFONTE可說是株長青樹，他德高望重，健康長壽。熱心公益事業，本張專輯的絕靚現場演出，就是為做慈善演出。貝拉方特技佳，德美，傾倒眾生。

Harry Belafonte 亨瑞．貝拉方特，原名哈羅德．喬治．小貝拉方特，1927年03月01日生於紐約市哈萊姆區。童年時代在牙買加 他父親的出生地過著貧困的生活。二戰結束後，他勤工儉學在紐約戲劇進修所學習。1952年開始以唱民歌作為他的職業。1953年第一次上銀幕，演出《光輝 的道路》。同年，他還在百老匯演出《約翰．默裏．安迪森的年曆》，獲戲劇托尼獎。

　　他於1987年獲任命為兒童基金會的親善大使。Belafonte先生在一生中一直公開反對不 正義。他站在美國境內捍衛人權鬥爭的前列，也是“藝術家聯合援助非洲協會”的一位核心人士，並曾參加演唱1986年那首名為“我們是世界”的歌。 Belafonte先生多年來一直支持兒童基金會的各項努力，組織了義演音樂會和籌款活動並參加演出，走訪各國並為兒童大聲疾呼。他向美國國會做了各種工 作，力圖說明當局製訂各項惠及兒童的政策，這些努力對於兒童基金會和世界各地兒童的事業來說十分重要。
